Mel turns 40! = Girls Trip = Heaven

Melanie turned 40!! Which is super exciting, and also not because that means I'm next, but that's a whole different post! Mel's awesome hubby, Randy, helped us all make sure we were on the same flights and off we went for a whirlwind celebration in less than 24 hours!
Mel picked us up from the airport and raced us (does she ever not race?!) to see the Fremont troll before it got dark. It was darkish by the time we got there, but that's ok it was awesome to see! We still haven't made the trek to see it any of the times I've been up there. Then we went to the Red Mill Burgers - who are famous for their burgers and we would agree! Yummy burgers and even better fried mushrooms! Then we went to Mel's house just long enough to say hi to her kids, then we grabbed the cheesecake Randy provided (because he's a smart man and knows Spjute girls need their cheesecake) and took it to her friend's AMAZING house that sits on Pine Lake. We got to pretend like we were rich and famous for a few minutes. Then we went back to Mel's to sleep.
We woke up the next morning and went for a pretty walk. Then Mel had set up an appointment at a cute boutique with some stylists. We had fun trying on clothes, getting Alicia to finally wear skinny jeans (we were all angry that she wasn't since she's the only one of us that actually has legs), and we got Laura to finally tuck in her shirt in front! Hoorah! I found a belt that changed my life and we all spent a lot of money.
Then we met Mel's friends at their boat and they drove us around to see all the beautiful sites in Seattle. It was awesome. I love riding in boats. Then we pulled up to a dock, parked the boat and walked in to have the best clam chowder and fish tacos I've EVER had. I'm salivating just thinking about it!
Then, in an attempt to burn off some calories, we tried to rent the electric bikes that are all round Seattle. You can park them wherever you want, and you have to use your phone to rent them. We were right by WSU (which is gorgeous area) but we forgot that the BYU game was about to start. There were lots of people and no bikes. We finally gave up and started walking back to the car when we came across 4 bikes! Wahoo! But then Mel's phone was on the fritz so she couldn't rent one. No problem, she just sat on the back of the bike where it says No Sitting and off we went! It was hilarious! We were laughing our heads off, ringing our bells for people to get out of the way, and getting strange looks from people.
And as if that wasn't enough, Mel then drove us into Seattle to a famous ice cream place. It had all sorts of flavors. One of them had vinegar in it - that was no good. I don't recommend that. But it was fun to taste test. Then it was finally back to the airport and back to our dull lives to search for meaning!
I learned a few things on this trip: 1 - I need to be with my sisters more often. It's the best. 2 - Food is our love language. If we want to have fun, there must be good food involved. It's amazing we're not all fat. 3 - Leaving my kids, even if it was only for a day, is always a good thing for all involved!!
And good luck to Toby for planning my 40th! Hopefully Mel won't mind if we go back to our house. I don't think any of us need a tour of Farmington.

Fremont Troll
Our morning walk.
Proof that Spjute girls can shop. Sometimes. In a limited amount of time.
The Cut

The stadium where BYU would lose badly.

The Sleepless in Seattle House
I think this is fascinating how the park the boats. Sam would've loved it.

Mmmmm
