Calling In Sick

Why is it that your husband can call in sick for work, but if you (the wife & mother) want to call in sick it just isn't possible?
I woke up this morning and declared to my family that I was calling in sick. They all looked at me weird and then the kids proceeded to tell me what shape of pancake they wanted and Toby said he needed to get to work. I guess no one took me seriously.
I'm not really sick, I'm just tired of being a mom. I'm tired of taking care of sick people. Max was super sick, then gave it to Sam who got even more super sick. I'm tired of wondering if Sam is getting enough oxygen and if he's staying hydrated or if I need to take him to the doctor. Unfortunately, (sigh) there is not a substitute for me. So I decided I'm not calling in sick, but as I do all the things I need to do today (laundry, grocery shopping, dinner, etc.) I'm not going to be happy about it. And that's how I'm sticking it to the man. (Whoever that may be.)

  1. If I lived closer you could call me to be your sub! Better yet, fly me home and I'll be your sub. :)

  2. I had a day like this where i was grumpy and unhappy about everything. I asked the older 2 to clean up for the zillionth time and finally I asked one more time in the quiet angry, serious mom face voice. As they walked off I heard Liv say to Gavin, "geeze, I hope she doesn't kill us"
    good times
