Ketchikan

On Sunday, we got off the boat in Ketchikan. Toby and I woke up early because of the boats horn - they had to keep blowing it in the middle of the night because we were in heavy fog. So we took advantage of our extra time and walked around the cute town. The old historic town is built along the river up on stilts, it was pretty cool. It's also the time for the salmon run so we saw a ton of fish! If I hadn't been in my Sunday dress, I would've just reached down and grabbed one! We saw them swimming up the river and that was super cool too.
The church we went to felt like it was in a log cabin, very cool. We went from church to look for bears that were eating the salmon. Unfortunately, we didn't realize because it was so warm that day that most of the bears had retreated into the shade, so we didn't see any. Bummer.
But we did find a waterfall and Brandon and Kurt decided it would be a good idea to go skinny dipping! Lets just say I saw way more of my brother-in-laws than I ever wanted or needed to.
We made it back on the boat and took a nap (again, glorious) and then got invited to go out onto the helipad of the boat. It was super cool. Too bad we don't drink because they kept offering it to us!
We also found a fun hike to go on - it was so beautiful!
That night we had an amazing sunset and then in the middle of the night we woke up to see the Northern Lights from our balcony! I never thought I would see the Northern Lights! It was so cool! I felt like I was in a Harry Potter movie!

Look close and you can see all the fish sitting there

Toby wanted us to look like a totem pole. I know. Oh, and since I had to pack 2 weeks before I actually went on this trip, I forgot a lot of things. Like a shirt to hike in. Thank goodness for cheap tourist shops. And thank goodness for Tina for bringing an extra swimsuit!
Don't look too close!

Just picture a bear eating some salmon here.

Our boat!
On the helipad - the sun was so bright!

Toby was not happy that this appetizer could be scooped up in one bite...

He made up for it by ordering 3 entrees!

Holding up our fingers for how many entrees we ordered

Toby stayed out til the end

The Northern Lights! Our camera couldn't pick it up so some stranger airdropped this to us. Isn't it amazing!
