Coventry was a wonderful experience and the whole reason for the trip. But it was made even better by this huge mansion that we stayed in! I know, it's awesome. It had everything you could imagine from pride and prejudice. A hedge maze, check. Swans, check. A moat, check. A river with a bridge, check. Yummy food, check.

| A beautiful breakfast room surrounded with windows. Oh and everytime we had breakfast people were shocked that we didn't want coffee or tea. They would always ask us twice cause they thought they didn't hear us right! |

I was greatly anticipating Coventry because this is the city that Lindsey died in. I really didn't know what to expect. I didn't know if people would still remember her, if I would be super emotional or what. As soon as we entered Coventry I could feel her with me and feel how much she loves this place! We made it to church and the first person we met said of course he remembered Lindsey, they all do! It was a great meeting and then I got to meet with some people that knew her and then the bishop took us out to see the tree they had planted in memory of Lindsey. The bishop was very kind and told us the branch always makes sure to tell any new missionaries that come that the bar has been set very high by Sister Spjute and then they take them out to see the tree and tell them the story. It was wonderful to hear that her legacy lives on! We even tried to visit a family that she loved that has now gone inactive and to remind them that Sister Spjute would not be happy with them, but alas, they didn't answer the door. We will have to try another way.
We then went to see her apartment and the park she was running in when she died. It took us awhile to figure out the park because they've redone some things. But we found the spot where she had passed and it was a neat experience to be there. It was very calm, and peaceful in the forest and there was a special feeling there. I am soooo grateful I was able to visit these places that she loved!

I'm so glad your visit to Coventry was not disappointing. We, likewise, felt something very special there.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you finally got to visit these places. Weird how I can see all these pics and be like, "oh yeah, that's where she lived" and "oh and that's the place she died." as if it was no big deal. I'm sure she was so happy you were there!
