Huatulco

Our view from the plane.
Prepare yourself. For what you're about to see will make you very jealous and may even make you book a flight to Huatulco.
It was finally our turn to go visit Bish & Leila and we were soooo excited!! It definitely helped that we still had 2 feet of snow at our house and we were traveling to a place that was sunny and 80 degrees! It was so fun to see them again and see where they live and the people they work with. Now when we talk to them we know exactly who and where they're talking about!
Of course, we started our first day at the beach! And every day after. The kids couldn't get enough of it. Huatulco has 9 bays in it and we visited 5! Hutaluco is a pretty neat place. It was built about 30 years ago just for tourism. So the roads are all really nice and the government employs lots of people to water grass, and keep the sidewalks and roads clean. The people there are wonderful. They are all very kind and we were glad that we got to meet so many of them!
Running to see Grandma Leila!

Reunited!!

We stopped to get some tliutas (sp?).  This woman fits this entire set up in a taxi and brings it all from her home every night to sell the food and make her money.

They were delicious!

We woke up to Grandpa's yummy breakfast.

We went next door to see the kids going to school. (My kids were so happy they were not!)

I wanted to take this little boy home.

On our way to the beach, we stopped by to visit this cute family.

This is the mom of those cute boys. Her husband died so she wakes up early every morning to make tortillas on that stone for hours so that her sister can go sell them. They only make around $8-$10 a day and that's what they live on. They have no running water or electricity but they were the kindest people, and she was recently baptized by Bish. It was a humbling, wonderful experience to meet them.

the boys were obsessed with their dog.

We gave the boys a few toys to play with while their mom works.

Our 1st beach of the day!

We were serenaded by this cute guy that couldn't carry a tune, but he sure had heart!

This is the life!

Is this for real?!

  1. I can't even begin to describe how jealous I am of your trip! I'm as jealous of the beaches as I am that you got to spend time with the people.
