A week with the Balls

When the Balls come to visit, we drop everything to play hard. It doesn't happen very often, especially in the summer, so we were soooo excited for them to come. I'm glad it finally happened so Sam could stop asking me how many more days until he saw Landon.
We started the week off with a bang and went to Cherry Hill all day long. The kids had a blast, and it was so hot that we burned the bottoms of our feet walking on the cement. The poor Balls were not prepared for the heat. They were coming from 65 degree weather (sounds like heaven!).
We took a night and drove down to see Laura's awesome new theater and watch A Quiet Place in it. I love that show. The theater was amazing and we scared the kids enough that they didn't get much sleep that night!
The next day, the older kids melted at Lagoon. They had fun but were begging to come home because it was so hot.
Dad and Kathy also treated us to a train ride to SLC to go to the church museum and Crown Burger. Marcus ate 2 without blinking. Impressive.
We also had Lindsey's favorite mission companion, Sister Maharjan over for dinner. Greg and I were the only ones who hadn't met her yet (the rest of my family met her when they visited Lindsey's mission after she passed). It was wonderful to meet her. I can see how her and Linz were such good friends. She is an amazing person with an amazing story!
Of course we did the Festival Days parade and race. I ran with Max this year so Toby could actually run it. He did it in just under 19 minutes. He makes me sick. Max got 28 minutes, he's trying hard to break that time.
The Gods smiled upon us during the parade because there was cloud cover and cooler temperatures, so we were only kind of sweating. Megan was in the parade with her school dance team, so it was weird to not have her with us. The parade was awesome as usual. We got so much candy that the kids stopped picking it up!
Oh, and in the middle of all that, we signed Max and Landon up for Apple Camp where they learned how to code some robots. Way beyond me.
Toby wins best husband award for watching the littles so we could go to Laura's. The balls makes Henry happy.

We found 5 minutes to run down to the new high school (will be Megan's) open house. It was impressive!
