Corona Field Trips

Trying to keep sane during a quarantine is no easy thing. One way we've found that helps us all is going on field trips! We try to do at least one big thing a week where we ALL get to get out of the house and do something fun. We've done lots of hikes and the last one we did was so muddy that we kept sliding backwards trying to get upwards, we finally called it and slid our way down the mountain. Some of our favorites have been: Sledding at the ski resort Nordic Valley (twice!), Spiral Jetty, Golden Spike and the Bonneville Salt Flats. As a Mom, I've always wanted to go to these places but whenever it gets suggested it was always quickly turned down because they're not the most exciting places, but turns out all I needed was a pandemic and my kids were excited to go!
Sledding was a lot of fun because there were no rocks to dodge so you could go as fast as you could with no worries of injury! Score! Megan and Toby hiked all the way up the black diamond. It took them forever to get down. I felt like it was the part in Moana where Maui jumps down the hole and yells 'I'm still falling!'. It was awesome. The only bummer is that we had to walk up the hill. We're spoiled from Extreme sledding and not used to this - but there wasn't a lot of complaining because we were out of the house!
The salt flats were a lot of fun with Max's awesome monster truck and double dutch ropes. And it was an added bonus that it was a beautiful day!

Max was excited to use his new tube he got for Christmas

Boys lunch outing to the Bird Refuge

Grandpa Bish saved the day when the teacher/principal/PE teacher/lunch lady quit. He came over and grabbed the boys no questions asked and took them to El Rancho. The boys loved it.

This is Brad Green. Sam idolized Brad. Brad drives a truck, knows how to build things and is a cowboy. All things that are very important to Sam. Brad also raised 4 boys who are the most respectful boys I've ever met. So he gave Sam an awesome talk about respecting his mother, and for the first time in Sam's life - he listened! He came home and told us all about it and said that he can listen to Brad because 'he's a real man'. I see many more visits to Brad in Sam's future.
