Survivng vs. Thriving

Sam, hoping for some interaction with ANYONE.
This picture is a good indication of how we feel about quarantine right now. We're ready to be done. Humans aren't meant to be separated from each other. We'll probably all have some sort of mental illness when/if we ever come out of this. Some days we survive and some days we thrive. We've kept busy with a lot of projects (more on that later) so that has helped. And Sam has learned to keep himself happy by going outside and seeing what's going on and hoping the rest of the kids in the neighborhood come out and play. It's hard to see your kids struggle!
Sam had had enough one day, and went outside and started digging a hole!
It lasted for an entire week and it got pretty big before we had to fill it in to plant our garden.
We're getting creative doing schoolwork
It's not unusual to see the boys in this position
I love when I see more of this playing going on!

Megan is probably the only one that's 'thriving' during this time. It's not that she's enjoying it, she just knows how to roll with things and make the best of the situation. She cooks us (and the neighbors) lots of yummy food, and she's always dancing. Plus she makes awesome movies like this: She even wrote all the words!

Here's our calendar for April - NOTHING!!

The boys hair has gotten ridiculously long, but haircuts are coming on Friday!

This is definitely not a thriving situation. Piano lessons by zoom is not Sam's idea of fun.
But marzipan cake after you've been painting all day on your birthday makes everything better! We're all going to laugh about this picture one day because it was not warm, but we were just happy to see humans so we were all willing to be cold.
